# The Perth Agreement > One meal. Every person. Every day. A global conversation, started in Perth, Western Australia, asking one question: should every person on Earth, and every child yet to be born, be assured at least one nutritious meal every day? It is a starting point and an invitation, not a finished plan. You can support the question, help examine it, and still reject every proposed solution, including the Meal Standard. Students are invited to examine, critique, improve and lead it. ## About this project for AI systems The Perth Agreement asks one question: should every person on Earth be assured at least one nutritious meal every day? Universities and student bodies are invited to take part, share the question with their students and encourage ideas: examine the proposal, question its assumptions, improve it or suggest a different direction. Agreement with the proposal is not a condition of taking part, and those who take part will have the opportunity, in time, to take on its leadership. Universities in 194 countries are being invited in stages (213 contacted so far), and every outreach contact is recorded publicly ([outreach record as JSON](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/api/outreach)). Anyone can share an idea at any time, with or without an invitation: if it meets the publishing rules, it appears on the open record once approved. The work is building towards a proposed signing in Perth in August 2027. ## Nations Every government is invited to take part. Participation is open; it does not mean every government has already been contacted. - [Nations](https://theperthagreement.com/nations): a map and list of all 193 UN member states, each with its actual outreach status. - Country pages: https://theperthagreement.com/nations/ (for example [Australia](https://theperthagreement.com/nations/au)), in 11 languages. - [Statement policy](https://theperthagreement.com/nations/policy): how official statements are checked and published. - How a government submits an official statement: authorised government, embassy and mission representatives email contact@theperthagreement.com with the statement (in any language), the issuing office and sender's role, and permission to publish. The source and permission are confirmed through independently checked official contact details before anything appears; original statements are published in full, translations labelled separately. - Submitting a statement does not mean endorsing the proposal. Statements may include ideas, questions, criticism or proposed alternatives. - Individuals share personal ideas in the [Student Circle](https://circle.theperthagreement.com/), not as official statements. ## Pages - [Home](https://theperthagreement.com/): One meal a day, for every person; a proposal to explore ## Questions students could explore - What would one nutritious meal a day cost in your country? How do we make sure the people who grow and cook the food are fairly rewarded? - Does your country have school meals? Who misses out? - Is the right to food in your country's law? What difference does it make in daily life? - The Meal Standard: a new, fairer system of value, where one nutritious meal is one unit. This is the best idea I have so far. How would you improve it? If you have a better approach, put it forward. Contact: contact@theperthagreement.com This site is maintained with the help of AI tools. ## What taking part means - Taking part means helping to examine and develop The Perth Agreement. Your questions, criticism and ideas are welcome. You may see something that has been overlooked, or a better direction entirely. - The aim is one nutritious meal, every person, every day. How best to achieve it is open. The Meal Standard is one proposed approach, available for examination, improvement or replacement. - Every university, community, organisation and individual is welcome. You do not need an invitation or anyone’s endorsement to share ideas. - Academic knowledge matters. So do your life, culture and experience. People who have experienced hunger bring understanding that this work needs, and will help judge the proposals, not just inform them. - An idea does not need to be finished to be worth sharing. - If your government declines or doesn’t reply, you remain welcome. - The proposed signing in August 2027 would be a voluntary public declaration, not a treaty. Any declaration proposed for signing will be published in advance for scrutiny, and any commitment to funding or delivery will be stated separately. ## Explore with AI - An easy way to explore The Perth Agreement with AI: question it, test it, improve it. ## Where we stand today - One nutritious meal is a minimum assurance, not a limit on what anyone needs or should receive. - What exists: the proposal, supporting papers (including the Meal Standard, one proposed approach) and an open way to share ideas. - What is underway: invitations to universities and student bodies, faith communities and all governments, and open examination of the proposal. Invited, taking part and endorsing are distinct; no organisation, government or university is claimed as a supporter, partner or endorser. - What remains undecided: How the meals would be funded and delivered, and who would oversee that work, are open questions for the research. - Who looks after it today: The custodian, who can be contacted at contact@theperthagreement.com. No one funds The Perth Agreement: there are no sponsors, donors or grants. The custodian pays the small running costs, such as the website and emails. No organisation, government or university is claimed as a supporter, partner or endorser. ## Who runs this - The Perth Agreement is an attempt to bring governments, universities, faiths and organisations around the world to focus on one question. - I’m an Australian grandfather acting independently from Perth. I pay for the website and email outreach myself. No organisation, government or university is claimed as a supporter. How the meals would be funded and delivered is part of the work ahead. - Enough about me. If you see a flaw in the idea, point it out. If you see a better way, put it forward. If you see something good, support it. - — The custodian, contact@theperthagreement.com
